1.3 Policy
Successful interventions require multi-sector collaboration, with inclusion of stakeholders from health, agriculture, education, industry, and social welfare, together with ongoing evaluation to ensure impact and adaptability.
One of the rapidly increasing obstacles to shifting dietary patterns towards healthier options is the influence of social media, with exposure to product advertising, false health claims and misinformation, for example towards the requirement of a high protein intake and fad diets. At the same time, these platforms can be utilised to have a positive impact on awareness and education on nutrition.
In the current geopolitical climate, nutrition policies must integrate broader considerations such as issues of sustainability, food security and resilient supply chains.
