2.2 Strategy

Education acts as a “personal firewall” to suboptimal conditions by improving access to resources, increasing health literacy, and enhancing cognitive skills (Montez & Cheng, 2023).

The core considerations for a global strategy, such as promoting equitable access, integrating health literacy, and focusing on lifelong learning, are key recommendations for reducing global inequities and improving longevity (Balaj et al., 2024; UNESCO, 2022).

The specific recommendations for older age groups align with the goals of the WHO’s Global Strategy and Action Plan on Ageing and Health (WHO, 2016), which advocates for aligning health systems and developing age-friendly environments to maximize functional ability and combat ageism.
